Liborio Vincenzo Calia, Calia Italia’s founder, was born in 1926. He started attending an artisan workshop when he was very young. There he learnt how to make carpentry works, realizing different types of objects made of wood from useful tools to works of outstanding workmanship to decorate any house. In 1944, when he was only 18, he started his own business, and in 1965 he started a research project that would end up in designing and producing a single kind of products, conceived to make people feel good: upholstered furniture. Since then, his team have been manufacturing sofas with an accessible, democratic design with care and attention to details in Matera to reach any place in the world.

Description
A taste of Venus(VENERE swivel armchair) can found in the armchair, small armchair, footstool and bench versions that all present the same essential style of the sofa model. The venere swivel armchair takes on the slim and enveloping structure of the model as well as the soft cushion for the seat whilst the small armchair also includes a back cushion, designed to offer a remarkable comfort experience despite its small size . It is perfect even for smaller environments. The footstool and bench versions, characterised by the fork foot typical of the collection, give the possibility to furnish the space with the most suitable composition for one’s needs. The footstools are in fact available at ReModern in rectangular and round shapes – while the bench, which is longer and less deep, can be used as a bench in the living area or as a backrest to furnish sleeping areas.
